Stellar Echo SD-201 is a meticulous recreation of a legendary 1970s-era tape echo. It faithfully captures the unmistakable warmth and quirky charm of analog tape delay, delivering the rich saturation, subtle pitch fluctuations, and generation loss characteristics that have shaped the sound of countless dub, reggae, and trip-hop tracks. As a tape delay, it can be oversaturated and “played” as an instrument itself by changing the tape speed as it repeats, introducing interesting pitch changes and textures. While Stellar Echo SD-201 preserves all the characteristics of the original hardware, they’ve also significantly expanded on it to make it integrate with modern music production and give it abilities the original never had.
